Jana Sczersputowski has worked in the field of health communication and social marketing since 1998. Mrs. Sczersputowski is skilled in developing behavior-changing communication materials and initiatives. She is able to translate research and field findings into effective communication tools. With over ten years experience coordinating and managing communication projects and marketing initiatives, she ensures projects meet objectives, deadlines and budget criteria. Mrs. Sczersputowski has specialized in developing initiatives and program materials that are culturally and language appropriate for the communities they are implemented in.

In 2008 she completed her Masters Degree in Public Health, allowing her to apply public health principles to a broad range of communication structures, especially in the areas of audience research and evaluation. Her studies have provided her with an understanding of research methodologies that enables her to translate complex evaluation findings into community-friendly messages. She has further applied these skills to build evaluation structures into social marketing and communication efforts. She was recently asked to facilitate a national workshop on integrating data into materials and awarded with several Excellence in Community Communication (ECCO) awards.

Every project is based on a thorough understanding of an organization’s need, the community in which it will be implemented in, as well as the audience(s) it is intended to reach. Partnership development and inclusion in the development process and implementation is considered a vital component to the success of the project.

Experience Highlights

  • Over 10 years social marketing and health related communication project management, copy writing and creative direction experience.
  • Social marketing background in combination with a Masters Degree in Public Health.
  • Able to identify key messages and content from complex reports and source materials in a format and language appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Successful in keeping projects on time and on budget in combination with an appreciation of the importance of an inclusive development and review process (and understanding that this often involves multiple rounds of revisions).
  • Sensitive to the need to work with limited resources, both human and financial, and consider long term sustainability of initiatives. As a result every project plan includes a consideration to develop products and strategies (and provide training to your staff) that can be used by your staff without the help of an outside consultant.
  • Evaluation of social marketing efforts and ability to work with evaluation professionals to transform complex data into community-friendly products and presentations.
