Youth Suicide Prevention & Response Network

As a subcontractor to Center for Applied Research Solutions and in partnership with UCLA Agile Visual Analytics Lab, YSM supported technical assistance efforts to assist 10 pilot counties (Alameda, El Dorado, Humboldt, Kern, Los Angeles, Riverside, Sacramento, San Diego, San Joaquin, and Solano) to address the urgent need for rapid, local-level suicide response by developing systems to more quickly report and comprehensively respond to youth suicides and suicide attempts. Pilot counties were supported through a series of topical and skill-building webinars, communities of practice, virtual and in-person TTA meetings, universal resources, a comprehensive system flow mapping process, and individualized technical assistance. The Youth Suicide Prevention & Response Network (YSPRN) was funded through the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative and administered by the California Department of Public Health, Office of Suicide Prevention.

Riverside County’s Opioid Use Media Campaign

Riverside County faced a sharp rise in opioid overdoses and deaths, especially among Hispanic/Latinx and White youth ages 15–24.  Our multi-year campaign delivered life-saving overdose instructions in digital and print formats including TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Connected TV,  Snapchat, movie theatres, and outdoor media near schools and community centers.  Parent-focused initiatives enhanced knowledge and preparedness, while community partnerships ensured sustained impact.
